There were also many repairs that needed to be addressed, including holes in the ceiling from new spotlights, a ceiling leak repair, skimming over the old artex ceiling and creating a smooth surface behind a maze of pipes, before the kitchen fitters installed our worktops. Arnie tackled all of this, he is extremely thorough and makes sure the job is done right not just skimmed over, this included hacking off a large section of crumbling plaster and replacing this with insulated plasterboard which will prevent condensation forming in this area. All in all, he left a very robust and tidy job and the kitchen fitters actually commented how well the plastering was done, considering how rough and un-flat the walls were before! I contacted Arnie after watching one of his YouTube videos. I needed my chimney rendered and plastered after some alteration work but wanted to keep one of the original features, the curved corners of the chimney breast. Arnie was very helpful and interested in my request despite a few complex issues involved. The internal parts needed special lime based materials to withstand heat and the curved areas required templates and tools to be made to match the existing profile. Arnie discussed all the options available and guided me through what he needed to do and how it would all work, assuring me that what I wanted to achieve was well within his capabilities. I can confidently state that Arnie did a magnificent job. He is more than a master of his craft, he is an artist. Every step was carried out with great care and attention to detail. Clearly a man who takes pride in his work and it shows. Not only is the end result beyond my expectations, Arnie is one of the best craftsmen I have ever worked with and employed. You couldn't do better than entrust your job to Arnie's patient, professional, and meticulous skills. On completion everything was clean and tidy and he left me with detailed instructions on how to paint both areas and what paints to use on the different types of plaster. We were expecting to be quoted for loads of expensive work, but he took the time to properly check everything and gave us a really honest assessment. Turns out we didn’t need half of what we thought, which ended up saving us a small fortune. He fitted insulated plasterboard and did a great job skimming over the whole lot.
